Chest pain is a symptom that has many causes. Chest pain is often associated with heart problems when your symptoms include: pressure, fullness or tightness in the chest, crushing pain that radiates to other areas like the shoulders, back and arms, and fleeting pains that last for a few minutes and later return at various intensities. Chest pain may be a symptom of angina, or progressive coronary artery disease, aortic dissection or pericarditis. Although chest pain has many causes that are not always severe, if you experience sudden pain or expect you are having a heart attack, you should immediately seek medical help.
